FAQ

Below you will find answers to the most common questions

How much carry-on baggage can I bring?

Personal item: Want to keep it simple and travel light? Good for you. One personal item with maximum dimensions of 42x32x25 cm/ 17x13x10 in (10 kg/22 lbs) including handles and wheels is included in your ticket. The bag must fit under the seat in front of you.

Carry-on baggage: Need a bit more baggage on board? No problem. You can pay for one additional carry-on bag with maximum dimensions of 56x45x25 cm/ 22x18x10 in (12 kg/26 lb) including handles and wheels. By purchasing the additional carry-on baggage allowance you also get priority boarding. In our playbook, that's a win-win!

Anything else?: Additionally, you can board the aircraft with one duty-free shopping bag and any medical equipment or medicine you may require during the flight. Note that we recommend bringing a valid doctor's note stating that the medicine/equipment is necessary.

Can I book more than one destination under one booking number?

Unfortunately, our booking engine does not support multi-city bookings but you can request it by filling out a service request here.

What are the rules about flying with animals?

Not allowed - except service dogs.

We do love animals but unfortunately, we are not able to transport animals, neither in the cargo hold of our aircraft nor in the cabin.

There is an exception in place for passengers that need to travel with registered assistance dogs.

A maximum of one service dog can be carried in the cabin of each aircraft and the service dog cannot be accepted to travel one way if the passenger holds a return ticket.

Please note that there is a strict 14-day quarantine rule in place regarding the transportation of live animals into Iceland.

Kindly read the terms and conditions below before traveling with a service dog.

  • There are no special charges, weight restrictions, or cage requirements for traveling with a service dog.
  • We advise passengers that travel with a service dog to check in at least 90 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
  • Please note that it is the passenger's responsibility to obtain correct documentation for the dog's entry into the destination country.
  • PLAY does not accept any liability if the dog is denied entry into the destination country.
  • PLAY is not responsible for verifying that the dog has necessary documentation, including up-to-date vaccination records, prior to travel through, to, or from any country. It is the responsibility of the person that has paid for the dog’s transportation to settle any fines, costs, or other expenses incurred as a result of either insufficient documentation being provided or from the dog not meeting the entry requirements of the passenger's destination country.

Definition: A Registered Assistance Dog (RAD) is a dog that has been trained to assist and support an owner with disabilities (such as being deaf or blind) and registered with either of the following organizations:

Assistance Dog International - http://www.assistancedogsinternational.org

The International Guide Dog Federation - http://www.igdf.org.uk/closest-dog-guide-providers

A pre-booked/prior-authorized Registered Assistance/Service Dog is permitted to travel.

Booking Procedure: The Registered Assistance/Service Dog must be booked via our Service Team through [email protected] at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled departure time.

You will be asked to provide documentation which proves that your dog is a certified RAD/service dog, along with an approval letter from MAST for transfer or arrival in Iceland (see below for further information).

The service will not be added to the booking without these documents.

Iceland restrictions: Please note there is a strict 14-day quarantine rule in place regarding the transportation of live animals into Iceland.

Kindly read the terms and conditions below before traveling with the service dog.

For passengers to be able to travel to or via Iceland with a Registered Assistance Dog/service dog, they must additionally hold a prior authorization issued by MAST, the Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority. MAST requires that travelers with Registered Assistance Dogs/service dogs complete and return an application for a dog import permit, or for permission to transit through Keflavik Airport with their dog. Find more information at http://www.mast.is/english/frontpage/import-export/import/liveanimals

Per the rules and regulations of the Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority, dogs in transit are not permitted to come in contact with other animals at Keflavik Airport. Passengers traveling with Registered Assistance Dogs/service dogs, who are connecting through Keflavik Airport, must wait for their connecting flight in a designated area of the terminal. At the time of departure, a member of airport staff will accompany the passenger and their Registered Assistance Dog/service dog to the departure gate.

UK restrictions:

You can enter the UK with your Registered Assistance Dog/service dog if it:

·         Has been microchipped

·         Has a pet passport or health certificate

·         Has been vaccinated against rabies – it will also need a blood test if you’re traveling from a country that is not listed.

Please see more information on the UK Government website here https://www.gov.uk/bring-pet-to-great-britain/guide-dogs

Northern Ireland restrictions:

Registered Assistance Dogs/service dogs are allowed to enter Northern Ireland as long as they adhere with animal health controls.

·         The RAD/service dog must meet relevant rules which vary depending on which country the dog is coming from.

·         The passenger needs to contact the Department for Agriculture no more than 5 working days and no less than 1 working day prior to travel by:

o   Filling in a notice form or;

o   E-mailing it together with the Annex IV form or (if applicable) the following pages from the EU Pet Passport (iii) marking of animal, (v) vaccination against rabies and (vi) rabies antibody titration test to [email protected] in order to facilitate checks by officials at Dublin airport.

Please note that there is a fee for compliance checks (Euro cash only). Only RAD/service dogs that are compliant with the rules will be allowed to travel in the cabin of the aircraft when entering Northern Ireland.

Please see more information on the Department of Agriculture website here https://www.daera-ni.gov.uk/articles/travelling-pets.

US restrictions: Passengers traveling with a Registered Assistance Dog/service dog need to be able to provide a health certificate and guide dog ID book upon booking the service, as well as at the airport. The RAD/service dog needs to be registered with an accredited organization, a list of which can be found under Definition above.

Will my child get their own seat?

Children always get their own seat on board, but infants do not.

Where can my child sit?

Children are allowed to sit anywhere on the plane except in the emergency exit row. We will always seat children next to their guardians, but to ensure that you sit with all of your family members, buying a seat before your flight is always your best option. Infants do not occupy a seat as they sit on the lap of the parent/accompanying adult. It is possible to purchase a seat for the infant and for example place an airline-approved car seat in the seat where the infant can sit during the flight. If you want to purchase a seat for your infant, please contact our Service Team.

How do I check in online?

We love everything about online services - that's why we ask all our passengers to check in online. More time to PLAY!

Let's get started!

We want our check-in process to be as simple and smooth as possible so we recommend all passengers check in online on our website.

Check-in is located within your MyPLAY account.

Online check-in opens 24 hours prior to the flight's scheduled departure time and closes 1 hour before the flight's scheduled departure time. Online check-in is not available for our flights from Paris CDG. All passengers traveling on our flights from Paris CDG are required to check in at our help desk at the airport. See information related to terminal location here.

When check-in has opened, you can log into your account and click "Check in". The whole process is playfully simple - just the way we like it - and should only take a few minutes.

Please note that after you have finished the online check-in, you will no longer be able to:

  • Change your flight date
  • Make a name correction
  • Select your seat

Baggage allowance can be purchased during check-in and until it closes. For payment, you can select to charge the credit card you have saved to your account. If you wish to pay with a different card, you can add a new card to your account and select to pay with that.

You can scan your boarding pass at our self-service kiosks at KEF airport to print your bag tags or go to the check-in desks at our other airports.

The bag tag is essential to matching the baggage to the passenger. You need to apply the bag tags to your baggage and drop it off at our baggage drop-off desk. There your baggage is scanned and you can proceed to security screening!

If you are only traveling with cabin baggage and have successfully checked in and received your boarding pass you can proceed directly to security screening upon arrival at the airport.

Remember to verify that your cabin baggage meets the PLAY size and weight requirements and you are all set!

Seats will be assigned to you but if you prefer other seats you can always change them and purchase the seats you want.

When the online check-in process is complete you can send your boarding pass to your email address. You can then use your smartphone to scan your boarding pass.

The boarding pass is your ticket to board the plane and shows you the scheduled departure time, the boarding time, gate information (if that is available when you finalize your check-in), your name, and other additional travel information you need to be aware of.

Failure to appear in time for check-in or boarding will result in a lost ticket.

COVID-19 document checks:

We ask all our passengers to arrive at the airport in a timely manner and have their documents ready for inspection. Our agents will verify all COVID-19 documents at the help desk before passengers proceed through security screening. All passengers are responsible for obtaining relevant COVID-19 authorizations for their destination country.

Our agents will verify all COVID-19 documents at the help desk before passengers proceed through security screening. All passengers are responsible for obtaining relevant COVID-19 authorizations for their destination country.

Please note it is the passenger's responsibility to have all documents in order. Passengers who do not adhere to COVID-19 restrictions in the destination country may risk denial of boarding on our flight.

How do I change or cancel a booking?

Changes: We understand that plans can change. That's why we allow date changes on our flights up until 1 hour prior to the flight.

If you booked a flight before or on August 1, 2022, please read our COVID-19 Flexibility Policy here.

All changes are subject to a standard changing fee per person and per flight leg, in addition to any possible airfare difference between the selected dates.

  • The new flight is more expensive: You pay the standard changing fee and the airfare difference.
  • The new flight costs the same: You pay the standard changing fee.
  • The new flight is less expensive: You pay the standard changing fee. Airfare difference is never refunded.

Your seat will transfer from your old flight to your new flight as long as it is available and your booking number will stay the same, but you will get a new confirmation message with updated flight information.

It is not possible to change the departure or arrival airport.

If you would like to change your travel date, please sign in to your MyPLAY account to make your changes. Go to My bookings and click on Manage booking. From there you click on Change flight to change your booking.

We are online and ready to chat between 08:00 (8 a.m.) - 20:00 (8 p.m.) GMT every weekday on social media or you can always send us an email at [email protected].

Name changes and name corrections: You can change a passenger in a booking for a fee, but you'll have to contact our Service Team. Further information about name changes can be found here.

We do however allow name corrections of 2-3 letters free of charge. Please note that your ticket must match your passport exactly. It is not possible to make adjustments after you have checked in online.

If you need to change your name in your booking, please contact our Service Team and we will gladly assist you.

Cancel: Our tickets are non-refundable and cannot be canceled for a full refund. If flights cannot be used, you can apply for airport taxes to be refunded for the unused flights in your booking.

Therefore we recommend that our passengers purchase cancellation protection at the time of booking.

Fill out this form to request a refund for your flight's airport taxes and we will contact you as soon as possible.

How much baggage can I check in?

Checked bags are not included in a standard ticket but can be purchased for an additional cost. Each passenger can bring up to three checked bags that are put in the hold of the aircraft. Each bag may not weigh more than 20 kg (44 lbs) and weight exceeding that allowance will be considered excess weight and charged accordingly, up to a maximum of 32 kg (70 lbs).

How do I reserve a seat on board?

Are you made for the emergency exit row or are you more of a wing man? The choice is yours!

Seats: We do recommend reserving your seat online as early as possible to guarantee the seat you want.

You can choose where you would like to sit on your flight during the booking process and up until 24 hours prior to departure by logging into your MyPLAY account.

Within 24 hours of your departure, you can also select your seats during the online check-in process.

Prices vary depending on legroom and also where in the plane you'd like to sit.

Please note that if you choose to sit in an emergency exit row you have to be able and willing to help during an emergency evacuation.

For security reasons, passengers seated in the emergency exit row must:

  • Be at least 12 years old
  • Be able to open the emergency exit door
  • Be able to assist the crew in case of emergency
  • Speak English

Please note that we reserve the right to move passengers to another seat if they do not meet these requirements.

If you do not wish to select and pay for a seat, a random seat will be assigned to you at check-in, free of charge.

Please note that passengers are required to sit in their assigned seats during the flight. They are of course allowed to use the facilities but cannot sit elsewhere on the plane. Seating arrangements are a crucial tool for preventing the spread of COVID-19.
