Luxurious Sunbathing and Delicacies
This quaint city on Spain’s southeastern coast is a worthwhile destination for holidaymakers from anywhere in the world. It is primarily known for its sunny beaches and epic nightlife, but make no mistake, Alicante is a far more diverse place than your average travel brochure might have you believe.
A good start to your time off would be a complete recharge sunbathing on the beaches and enjoying the more ambitious drinks on display for cocktail hour. The curious tourist might then head to Alicante’s old town or Barrio de la Santa Cruz, to wander around its charming narrow streets. After shopping in some cute boutiques with their colorful facades a good choice would be to dine at some of Alicante’s wonderful restaurants. This is after all a port town known for its exquisite seafood and tapas cuisine.
The Great Outdoors of Alicante
But while Alicante is certainly a choice for the connoisseur, it’s not all sinful decadence. From the old town, a good cultural choice would be to head up to the Castle of Santa Barbara, the fort sitting on top of Mount Benacantil that towers over the city as its most dramatic and glorious landmark. You can even catch a lift up there if you don’t feel like hiking.
The more active of the group might enjoy some of Alicante’s world-renowned golf courses or numerous cycle paths with their glorious views in what is, most often, perfect weather.
The adventurous tourist should head straight for the water of the Mediterranean, full of countless fun activities like surfing, diving, kitesurfing and water skiing.
If you just know you need a holiday in the sun but aren’t really sure what kind of pastime you’d most prefer, Alicante is the perfect choice, the dream destination that knows how to cater to all. And that quintessential Alicante weather really doesn’t hurt.
