Nocturnes and Green Spaces

Warsaw is Poland’s capital and a truly unique destination. The traumatizing history of the 20th century is a big part of the city character but so is its fighting spirit and amazing resurrection. Few, if any, cities were as badly damaged during World War II as Warsaw with 90% of the city damaged. The city’s Old Town has been ambitiously rebuilt and so successfully that it is now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Any visitor’s first stop should be the Warsaw Uprising Museum where you’ll get unique insights into this dramatic part of the city’s history and given an added depth to the country’s psyche. Warsaw somehow manages to combine its old and remarkable history with its new and edgy culture in the city’s museums, events and awesome urban landscapes. You can easily spend the day here looking at Chopin’s last piano and enjoy a night out in some of the world’s best techno clubs. Learn all about Marie Curie in a museum dedicated to her before admiring the colorful graffiti in hipster neighborhood Praga.

Warsaw is a real metropolis and the European Union’s sixth largest city but nearly a quarter of it is still considered green spaces. The gorgeous Lazienki Park with its historical buildings, ponds and peacocks is probably the most famous of the city’s many green spaces and public parks. Warsaw is the perfect blend of a happening big city and beautiful green oases.

A Grand Approach to Warsaw

One of Warsaw’s biggest tourist attractions is its pricing and travelers to this city often enjoy a more luxurious lifestyle than elsewhere as a result. Five star hotels are noticeably cheaper in Warsaw than most other cities in Europe and you can indulge in some extravagant luxury for much less. Shoppers should head to the Old Town’s Rynek Starego Miasta market square and the area surrounding it where you can do your shopping in a beautiful and historic setting. Don’t miss out on the spectacular Palace of Culture and Science, gifted to Warsaw by Stalin in the 1950s. Despite the building’s controversial origins it is a magnificent sight to behold with amazing views from the top floors. Speaking of views, we highly recommend a guided tour of the city, not least guided boat trips on the river Visla but for those on a tighter budget a pro tip is to use the city’s trams that glide quietly between tourist attractions in the city, offering a laid-back atmosphere and some great views. Pay less for your flights and transportation and treat yourself to some serious luxury in this thriving capital of Poland.
